Looking Ahead
The chicken tractor is another piece of the infrastructure we're continuing to build as Honeydew Farm grows. Each improvement helps us create systems that work better for the animals, the land, and the long-term sustainability of the farm.
Honeydew Farm is working on a new chicken tractor designed to give our chickens regular access to fresh ground while providing the shelter and protection they need.
The mobile structure will allow us to move the flock through different areas of the farm, giving the chickens access to fresh forage while naturally fertilizing the soil as they go. Moving them regularly also helps prevent one area from becoming overly disturbed and allows previously grazed areas time to recover.
